About Walking Florida

Amy Parker, Creator of Walking Florida, A Quiet Podcast Recorded in Nature

I’m a native Floridian. I have been walking in Florida since I took my first baby steps. When you think of Florida, your first thoughts might be palm trees and sandy beaches. While we certainly have plenty of those, I will be walking off the beaten path in this podcast. Think of oak trees draped with Spanish moss, scrub forests dotted with white-tailed deer, and swamp marshes where alligators hide. That’s where “Walking Florida” will take you.

Join me every episode for a new walk in Florida nature.

Each episode I take you with me to a new location for a walk through “old” Florida. As a former competitive gymnast (many years ago), I am dedicated to staying healthy but I also follow the motto of taking the time to “stop and smell the roses” in life. Walking gives you an opportunity to stay healthy while setting a pace to appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature. I’m lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful shaded hiking trail just footsteps outside my front door. But, I’m also a Gemini so I am easily bored with the same scenery. “Walking Florida” comforts my wanderlust and inspires me to get out in nature for a brand new experience every walk. I hope it will inspire you too!

A QUIET PODCAST

I call this a quiet podcast because approximately half of every episode has no talking at all…only the sounds of my footsteps and the natural sounds of the environment where I am walking. I provide minimal commentary throughout each episode to let you know where I am walking, the flora and fauna of the area, and any historical importance of the area. You can use this podcast to relax, learn something new, or as your companion on your own walk to transport you to another place.

WALK. EXPLORE. RELAX.
